Well yes I am now updating after about a month. I went and saw happy feet tonight, and it was amazing. Angie and I went to dinner and the movie with the girls from the youth group at church. It was a fun girls night out, and the movie was stinking amazing. In other news this week, I dropped theater to my minor and declared Christian Studies as my only major.
I also started volunteering at the local humane society, and today we (that being me, angie, and adam) swept, mopped, wiped-down, and pooper- scooped the cat rooms. I "have a cat" named Garth (yes, from Wayne's World) and he is a toot. Adam says that if he is still around when I can have a pet that I should adopt him. He is the fattest cat I have ever seen, and the most temperamental. Saturdays are the play days at the shelter, and that means we will take turns taking different dogs for walks. So with that being said, I'm gonna be off to bed so that I can have plenty of energy for tomorrow.

Thursday

Just a few more days till the family comes up to see me!!
At the moment I am sitting in the Hickingbothom computer lab (the newest on campus) and watching the maintenence people outside lay down the fake grass just in time for parents weekend. It's kind of funny to watch them just stick these big pieces of grass-like carpet.
I saw Juice yesterday and we talked for a few minutes. Nice guy that Juice.
Auditions for the one acts are tonight and I still don't know if I will audition. My friends are trying to talk me into it because the brunt of rehearsals won't take place until november so it's not like I have to do anything straight off it I do get cast. I am afraid to pass up my last chance to get cast this semsester and then again I want to have somewhat of a life. They say us theater majors don't have a life outside of theater, but I would love to prove that concept wrong.
Not much else going on here on campus, I'm off to work...at the theater. I might as well move in to that place..
Love, Rachel

I am rather excited about this new endeavor. I hope to keep up with this weekly and perhaps daily, although I doubt that will be the case.
I passed my swim test yesterday! Now there's a shocker. Who would have thought I knew how to swim. I did enjoy getting to swim though. I haven't been able to since returning to school this fall. I attribute my lack of swimming to my lack of a life, considering I have practically signed it away to the theater this fall. O
On that note, the auditions for student directed one acts are this Thursday, October 5th. I am proud to say that I will not be auditioning in order that I may reclaim some of my life! (Alright, so I have to audition because I am a theater major, but I'm writhing DO NOT CAST on the top of my audition form.) I am even thinking of changing my major to a Theater Major-Technical instead of a Theate Major- Performance. My true passions are in that part of theater. Acting is wonderful, but I don't want to do it for the rest of my life. Actors are a dime-a-dozen, but great Theater Technicians are few and far between. So I guess it's not really changing my major as much as it is my emphasis.
I have started keeping a picture of the University of Edinburgh in the front of my binder and by my desk in my room as a reminder of my goal. It's a beautiful place, and to study there for an entire semester would be phenomenal. I've even started budgeting my money so that I can save up for this grand adventure. Angela (my roommate) and I are still praying about it, but things are looking up at the moment. We were even more excited when we realized they would be shooting the 6th Harry Potter film about the time while we would be over there. (Come on, now how cool is that?!)
Well wrap this up I will leave you with one of the highlights of my week so far. Yesterday morning was not the best of mornings, let me tell you. My clothes weren't dry thanks to the wonderful maintenance staff here at OBU and their lack of dryer-fixing skills. (Way to leave a note saying "This dryer doesn't dry" guys, way to go...) So my clothes weren't dry, I was five minutes late to my favorite theater class. Upon my arrival to said class, lo and behold-what do I discover? A paint brush covered in purple paint that had dried to a paint-stirring stick that I had left out all weekend. All of this came along during the wrong time of the month, let me tell you! So I was walking across campus after washing out my paintbrush and was headed to my swim test crying all the way. I was crossing the bridge to the otherside of campus and this guy I have never met before in my life stops me. He asks if I am alright, and if there is anything he can do. I thank him ever-so kindly and decline his offer. (I wanted to say, "Do I look alright to you? Thanks for being so nice, but I just have to go swim , okay buddy?")
He says, "Wait. Hi, my name is Jeff, but everyone calls me Jewess." (Jewess! Are you stinking kidding me?? I had to have heard that wrong!) I did hear him wrong, and he took the liberty of correcting me. "No, no, no. Juice. They call my Juice." (Oh that's much better!) I said, "Juice? As in Orange?!" He nodded, and I continued with, "Oh, okay. I'm Rachel. Nice to meet you, Juice."
He asks if he can pray for me and I said yes. The rest of day went very well. I haven't seen him yet today, but I'm sure I will. God works in funny ways sometimes.
